Ohio farm equipment auction draws big crowds, results in strong sale prices

NEY, Ohio, March 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The auction of tractors, a combine, trucks, planters, sprayers and other tools attracted bidders from hundreds of miles around, resulting in a total price of $1,371,238 for 217 different items. Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company conducted the auction featuring machinery that had been used in the operations of Ben and Shirley Keil, who are retiring due to health reasons.

"There was a lot of energy in the bidding, because bidders came from all over, and they came prepared to buy. We had some great late-model machinery with low hours, so that was a perfect combination, leading to some excellent prices," said Roger Diehm, executive vice president of the auction company.

A Case IH 8230 Axial Flow Combine sold for $227,000, and a Case IH Magnum tractor went for $190,000. The auction included planters, tillage tools, sprayers, hopper wagons, trucks, trailers and lifts.

"I was happy to see such a good result for the Keils. A lot of farmers got some good machines that will be put to excellent use in the next few weeks," said Diehm. "For those who didn't get the equipment they wanted in this auction, we have several more major equipment auctions scheduled in the coming days," he said.
