Every time an Orbiter rings, a wish for peace takes wing. Let Freedom Ring!

WELLESLEY, Mass., March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Copplestone Games has received a warm reaction to its decision to associate a message of peace to the ringing sound that its Orbiter ring toss game makes when its steel ring strikes its acrylic post. David Copplestone, the inventor of the Orbiter, explains that he was thinking of the ringing sound that his game makes when he decided to associate that sound with a message. The ringing sound reminded him of the movie: It's a Wonderful Life and the line in it: "My teacher says: every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings." He thought "Wouldn't it be great if every time someone heard the Orbiter ring, they thought of the phrase: 'People say: every time an Orbiter rings, a wish for peace takes wing'?" He felt that his idea was supported by the visual resemblance of the Orbiter's two-posted design to the two fingers image of the very familiar peace sign. The game's creator also hoped to associate the Orbiter's ringing sound to the liberty bell and, by that association, to connect it to the 28 founding principles of the Founding Fathers and the ideals of truth, justice and liberty for all. The wish is that the more often these positive ideals are in our thoughts, the more likely they will become reality for those who are experiencing instability and unrest. Copplestone suggests that the Orbiter could be used at fundraisers. Participants might pledge to make a donation to charity each time 100 Orbiter points are scored. The object of the game is to set a ring in motion from one taller, uniquely angled post and ring the second shorter, conversely angled post.
