PADRES Contra El Cancer and Tropicana Las Vegas Present "A Weekend of Latin Style & Entertainment"

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PADRES Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer) and Tropicana Las Vegas will present "A Weekend of Latin Style & Entertainment" on Oct. 14 and 15, featuring two days of fundraising events to fight childhood cancer. These events at Tropicana will be PADRES' largest fundraising campaign for 2011 and will coincide with the 11th annual 'El Sueno de Esperanza(SM)' Gala taking place Oct. 15, hosted by PADRES National Spokesperson Eva Longoria.

Weekend events include:

Friday, Oct. 14
PADRES "Awareness Hour" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cafe Nikki will educate guests on how they can be supporters in the fight against childhood cancer.

Saturday, Oct. 15
PADRES "Awareness Hour" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cafe Nikki.

PADRES Celebrity Poker Tournament from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature surprise celebrity appearances. Buy-in is $250 to benefit PADRES. There is a maximum of 54 players; cash and prizes will be awarded to the final six players.

'El Sueno de Esperanza(SM)' Gala from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. will be hosted by PADRES National Spokesperson Eva Longoria with Master of Ceremonies George Lopez and presented by Farmers Insurance Group. More than 600 celebrities and leaders in business and philanthropy are expected to attend. Invited guests include Jessica Alba, Beto Cuevas, Marcia Cross, Derek Fisher, Sofia Vergara, Daisy Fuentes, Felicity Huffman and Mario Lopez, among others. This year's honorees include Anschutz Entertainment Group and Timothy J. Leiweke, president and chief executive officer of AEG, and Giselle Fernandez, Emmy Award-winning journalist and managing director of Creative World Management.

PADRES Gala After-Party hosted by Eva Longoria and friends at Club Nikki. Doors open at 10 p.m. Cover charge of $100 for males and $50 for females will benefit PADRES. Complimentary entry for all "El Sueno de Esperanza(SM)" Gala guests with a wristband.

The weekend's 'Premier Sponsor,' Verizon Wireless, and 'Official Airline Sponsor,' American Airlines, Xbox Live and Anschutz Entertainment Group have joined PADRES as corporate partners in the fight against cancer.
