Panopto Announces Video App for Jive and Private Cloud Video Hosting on Microsoft Azure

SEATTLE, April 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Panopto, a leading video platform provider for enterprise and education markets, today announced an update to its video capture and management software. The update introduces a new Jive app for integrating and searching video content within Jive's social collaboration software. It also includes the ability to host Panopto as a virtualized private cloud on Microsoft Azure.

As organizations increasingly rely on video for executive communication, live town hall events, online training, and employee-generated video content, there is a growing need to integrate enterprise social and collaboration software with video platforms that are built for the unique requirements of managing multimedia.

To address this need, Panopto is introducing a unique add-on for Jive that enables businesses to:

• Securely embed videos and playlists in Jive pages using single sign-on (SSO)
• Federate Panopto Smart Search and Jive search results
• Upload and share videos of any size from within the Jive activity feed
• Automatically transcode videos for playback on any device
• Efficiently stream on-demand video across the corporate WAN
• Access video analytics and editing capabilities

Private Cloud Video Hosting on Microsoft Azure
Panopto also announced support for hosting a private instance of its video platform on Microsoft's Azure cloud. This provides businesses and universities with a deployment option that brings together the lower infrastructure costs of the cloud with the flexibility and control of an on-premises solution. It is often the preferred deployment method for organizations with regional, industry, or corporate policies on data hosting and security.

Today's announcement builds on Panopto's existing support for Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), which enables organizations to provision Panopto on a logically isolated section of Amazon Web Services (AWS). Together, these deployment capabilities provide Panopto customers with the broadest range of hosting options for their video platform:

• Multi-tenant software as a service (SaaS) hosted on Amazon Web Services
• On-premises deployment behind an organization's firewall
• Private virtualized cloud on AWS or Microsoft Azure

"On Air" Light for Classroom and Auditorium Recording
For universities and businesses using Panopto to capture presentations in classrooms, auditoriums and lecture halls, the company is introducing support for an "on air" light that can be connected to any Windows laptop, desktop, or to the Panopto-Certified Video Capture Appliance.

The on-air light addresses two needs in classroom-based recording. First, it provides presenters with a visual indicator of whether Panopto is actively recording, paused, or stopped. This is particularly useful in situations when recordings and live webcasts have been scheduled in advance using Panopto's automated recording software. Second, the on-air light provides presenters with a simple interface to control their video recording. By simply pressing the light, presenters can start, stop, pause, and resume their recordings.
