HARRISBURG, Pa., June 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In an effort to ensure timely enactment of the 2010-11 state budget, Governor Edward G. Rendell this week sent a letter to House and Senate leaders urging all legislators to remain in session and stay in Harrisburg until the budget is complete.

The text of the Governor's June 16 letter follows:

I want to thank you for the earnest manner in which you have approached the work necessary to adopt a responsible state spending plan by the end of this fiscal year.  Your staff has engaged in productive exchanges of important information, and they have worked with administration officials at the appropriate times. I understand the process in which you are currently and exclusively engaged, and I look forward to hearing the outcome of that exercise.

Now, however, it is time to redouble our efforts.  That means all of us.  Pursuant to that end, I request that when the House and Senate come back into Session on Monday, June 21, 2010, you remain in session and the members remain at the Capitol until a spending plan is finally negotiated and adopted.

If the people of Pennsylvania are going to feel pain then we should have no hesitation to feel inconvenienced.
