INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Performance Services has announced a new solar PV offering for Indiana K-12 schools that allows schools. The latest advancements in technology have dramatically reduced solar project costs, and a new third-party financing option now makes it possible for some solar installations to be leased with no debt financed by the school—resulting in positive cash flow in the first year of operation.
"We believe solar power can be an excellent complement to an energy master plan and in guarding against future electric rate escalation," said Tim Thoman, President and CEO of Performance Services.
Most recently, Performance Services was selected by Delphi Community School Corporation to implement a 2.39 megawatt ground-mounted system that is expected to produce a net savings of $5.6 million over a 25-year time period. The project will reduce consumption by 50 percent and will be complete in 2017. Performance Services is also in various stages of design and construction of solar arrays for education facilities in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Texas and Arkansas.
To support its solar offering, Performance Services hired Ryan Stout as National Solar Manager. Stout has experience in manufacturing, design, and construction of large solar installations, the largest of which is the Indianapolis International Airport solar project. He has designed and implemented more than 60 megawatts of solar photovoltaic systems for commercial and education projects.
In addition, Performance Services is excited to announce a partnership with the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED) to support STEM learning and provide K-12 curriculum printed sets, hands-on solar learning kits, use of real-time energy data from a school's own solar installation, teacher training and student-focused challenge events.
