Recent IDrive Survey Reveals That Millions of People Will Waste Time Manually Entering Contacts Into Mobile Phones
Astonishing 27% of people with existing contact information in their old phones manually entered that information into their latest smart-phone; cloud-based IDriveĀ® Lite to the rescue!
CALABASAS, Calif., Aug. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pro Softnet Corporation, a world-class provider of cloud storage, online backup, compliance and remote access solutions for consumers and business, today announced the findings of a recent survey conducted online via Harris Interactive on behalf of IDrive among 2,148 adults aged 18 an older; the findings pointing out the millions of people that will manually transfer contacts from their old phone to their new phone.
With 420 million new smart-phones forecasted to be sold in 2011 alone (IMS Research, July 2011), the IDrive survey sought to answer the question: "When you purchased your latest smart-phone, how did you get your existing contact information onto the device?" While the majority of users who had contact info on their old phones - 46% according to the survey, a projected 52 million of new smart-phones in 2011 - indicated their mobile service provider handled the contacts migration (39%), 25% synced their current device with their computer (e.g. Outlook, iTunes®, BlackBerry Desktop), 18% transferring contacts via a SIM card/Flash drive, and only 10% restored them from a cloud-based storage service like IDrive Lite.
According to IDrive's own experiments (IDrive Blog, August 2011) the average time it takes to manually enter a single contact with first name, last name, address, e-mail address and phone number is about 1.3 minutes. If these 52 million smart-phone owners manually entered just 50 contacts each, that's a whopping 56 million hours wasted on just entering contacts!
A much more efficient solution has emerged that uses the cloud to do all the work - IDrive Lite. IDrive Lite is a free application supporting iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices allowing contacts to be quickly and securely backed up to the cloud, and simply copied down to a new smart-phone when desired - completely hassle free! IDrive Lite has helped over 200,000 users transfer an amazing 75 Million contacts.
