COVINGTON, Tenn., Oct. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of AT&T's* continuing efforts to drive economic development and investment in Tennessee, AT&T and representatives from the City of Covington and the Covington-Tipton Chamber of Commerce today announced that the Rialto Industrial Park in Covington, Tennessee has been designated AT&T Fiber Ready.
The AT&T Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.
In today's world, connectivity is vital to new employers and businesses of every type.
"This designation will help raise awareness about the infrastructure and benefits of the Rialto Industrial Park with prospective companies and site selection consultants around the world," said County Executive Jeff Huffman. "As our economy continues to head in the right direction, it is due in large part to a focus on smart policies that enable investments like this one."
"All Across Tennessee, there are hard workers, strong communities and people ready to do the work necessary to keep our economy growing and developing, and when we can highlight the presence of these vital communications resources, it serves to make our community even more attractive to potential employers," said Rep. Debra Moody.
AT&T has been deploying high-speed, fiber-optic infrastructure across the state for years, totaling more than 1.7 million strand miles of fiber-optics to date, and the AT&T Fiber Ready designation is a tool for economic development leaders to highlight the assets available in their facilities.
"The speeds and capacity that is possible over fiber optic infrastructure is essential for a growing number of businesses today, and while AT&T has offered fiber connections and gigabit speeds to our business community for a number of years, this designation will help us to emphasize the resources that Tipton County offers when companies are deciding where they want to base their operations," said Mayor Justin Hanson.
"For years, AT&T has invested in Tennessee to deliver high-speed Internet in urban and rural areas all across the state using the latest wired and wireless technologies, and this announcement offers an opportunity to highlight AT&T's fiber infrastructure in the Rialto Industrial Park – infrastructure that is helping local businesses drive job creation," said Chuck Thomas, regional director, external and legislative affairs, AT&T Tennessee. "AT&T Tennessee's employees are working hard every day to deploy our fiber-based network that delivers the high-speed Internet access that Tennessean's want and need, and the fiber optic connectivity that is available in the Rialto Industrial Park is in place to meet the communications needs of businesses of all sizes."
