Ride Entertainment Celebrates 20 Years of Thrills and Setting Records
Three of the company's new attractions are set to break records in the industry
STEVENSVILLE, Md., Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ride Entertainment, a leader in selling, operating and installing amusement and thrill park attractions worldwide, is celebrating a milestone anniversary: two decades in business, more than 200 thrill rides launched to market, and over half a billion dollars in sales since founding. In their 20th year of setting new records in the industry, Ride Entertainment will put down three new attractions with record-setting attributes for height, length and degree of drop.
The American Dream project, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, 4.5 miles away from the Lincoln Tunnel is expected to be the largest indoor theme park in the western hemisphere when complete. For this project, Ride Entertainment conceptualized and sold two record-setting rollercoasters – the Spinning Coaster, the tallest and longest full-circuit, free-spinning coaster in the world, and the Launched Euro-Fighter, which will feature the world's steepest roller coaster drop – and a ropes course – the world's tallest, largest and SkyTrail™ Explorer ropes course. It features a custom experience with two sections geared towards adventurers of all ages and also offers the world's tallest ropes course QUICKjump.
Other attractions Ride Entertainment developed this year (new to market in 2018) include some of their largest projects to date including:
- HangTime at Knott's Berry Farm,
- Skywarp at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom,
- Adrenaline Peak at Oaks Park, and
- Tantrum at Darien Lake
"It's humbling to think that Ride Entertainment has 210 projects under its belt. With a number of multi-million dollar projects still to be announced later this year, Ride Entertainment is poised to have 2018 be its highest grossing year to date." said Ed Hiller, CEO of Ride Entertainment. "Ride has so much to celebrate, but the team is most thankful for the thrill-seekers that keep this industry thriving."
Founded in 1998 by CEO Ed Hiller, Ride Entertainment has grown from a two-person dream to an international thrill ride company with over 130 employees. With two offices in Maryland and an office in Manhattan, the company has worked on hundreds of family and thrill ride projects across five divisions: sales, parks and attractions, financial partnerships, installations and its proprietary upcharge thrill ride concept, Skycoaster®.
Ride Entertainment's first high-impact project, the High Roller at Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, NV, is what established Ride Entertainment as an industry leader. The High Roller held the title of world's highest roller coaster, built 909 feet (277 meters) in the air above the Las Vegas Strip. After the High Roller's success, the company took off and over its last 20 years in business, has several industry milestones to celebrate, including:
- Working with the Six Flags franchise – the largest regional theme park company in the world – averaging at least one per year, every year since founding.
- Setting records with attractions including:
- Selling and installing the world's tallest vertical swing ride (featured in the Guinness Book of World Records) at Six Flags New England and Six Flags over Texas
- The world's tallest Skycoaster at Fun Spot Kissimmee
- Selling and installing the world's tallest Slingshot thrill ride at Cedar Point
- Working with Gerstlauer Amusement Rides to create the FireChaser Express, the first family coaster with forwards and backwards launches.
- Operating 7 world-class attractions, including the 16-million dollar SeaGlass Carousel, located at The Battery in Manhattan, New York.
- Opening the first dive coaster on the West Coast at Knott's Berry Farm in Los Angeles. Standing 150 feet (46 meters) tall, the Hangtime infinity coaster pulls 1,000 people through each hour.
