Robert M. Bass Launches Acadia Investment Management

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert M. Bass today announced the creation of Acadia Investment Management, a new Bass Family Office. Led by Chief Investment Officer Mark J.P. Anson, the firm manages a considerable portion of Mr. Bass' family's funds, with a focus on fund investments, alternative assets, portfolio construction, and intelligent risk analysis.

Mark J.P. Anson Biography

Mark J.P. Anson has 20 years of experience in the investment industry in a variety of executive roles, encompassing strategic portfolio construction, principal investment, and asset management leadership. In addition to managing the funds of Robert M. Bass over last three years, he has served as President and Executive Director of Investment Services at Nuveen Investments, a full service asset management firm with over $200 billion in assets under management.  Prior to Nuveen, he served as the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer of the British Telecom Pension Scheme (BTPS), the largest pension fund in the United Kingdom, with assets of £37 billion, and the CEO of Hermes Pensions Management, a £53 billion asset management company, wholly owned by the BTPS.  Before that, he was the Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees' Retirement System, the largest pension fund in the United States with over $225 billion in assets. 

Mark currently serves on the Advisory Board of MSCI-Barra, the Board of Trustees for the Northwestern University School of Law, the Advisory Board of the San Francisco CFA Society, and the Board for the Chartered Alternative Investment Association (CAIA).  He earned a B.A. in Economics and Chemistry from St. Olaf College, a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, and a Masters and a Ph.D. in Finance from Columbia University Graduate School of Business, all with honors.  He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and Certified Internal Auditor professional designations.  Mark is the author of five financial textbooks and over 80 journal articles.
