SEAL -- NSW Family Foundation 2016 Fundraiser Raises Over $1.2 Million
Annual Event Benefits Navy SEALs and Their Families
SAN DIEGO, May 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The SEAL – Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Family Foundation is pleased to announce that its fundraiser on Saturday, April 30, 2016 raised more than $1.2 million. The SEAL-NSW Family Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that raises funds and awareness for programs supporting the NSW families on a local, national and global scale. The event, held at the Del Mar Country Club, was designed to thank Navy SEALs and their families for their service, and to honor fallen heroes.
This year's fundraiser featured speaker Jessica Buchanan, a humanitarian aid worker kidnapped by Somali land pirates on October 25, 2011. Her harrowing story of capture and captivity elicited a standing ovation from guests in the sold-out ballroom. The event's top auction items included a New York trip with Jesse Orosco, a day in LA with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and two Trident Manor Kennels pure bred puppies.
Philanthropist and event Co-Chair, Madeleine Pickens, states, "It is with deep gratitude that I serve as event co-chair and give back to these exceptional men and women who keep our country safe and free. These brave warriors are able to do their job because of the support of their families. We honor those families."
