SiOnyx Imaging Awarded $3M Program From the US Department of Defense (DoD)
Collaboration to Advance Visible, Near Infrared, and Short-wavelength Infrared (VIS-NIR-SWIR) Camera Technology
BEVERLY, Mass., Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SiOnyx, Inc. today announced the award of a multiphase contract from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWC DD) in support of the Detect program. Detect looks to develop next generation sensing technologies for detecting laser light in targeting systems.

"SiOnyx's technology is ideally suited for imaging applications in tactical environments and we are pleased that the DoD recognizes these benefits." The primary focus of the contract will be to develop enhanced focal plane array designs for tactical imaging systems. The contract, including all options, is valued at $3M.
This award builds on support by ONR and the Night Vision Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) to develop infrared enhanced silicon detector designs.
