HOUSTON, March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Spark Energy announced that it will be donating $5,000 to relief efforts, plus $1 for every person that "Likes" one of their Facebook pages by the end of March, up to $25,000. People who want to help can go to the Spark Energy corporate page, or any of the Spark Energy area pages.

"Our hearts go out to those in Japan and all the other areas affected by this disaster," says Pamela Maxwell, Vice President of Community Affairs at Spark Energy. "We wanted to help relief efforts and tried to think of the easiest way people could contribute. What's easier than getting on Facebook and hitting the Like button?"

Spark Energy also points out that people don't have to donate their own money to participate in this effort. All you have to do is hit the like button, and Spark Energy makes the donation on their behalf.

"There are going to be a lot of people in need," says Maxwell. "Please take this small, easy step – it only takes a minute of your time – and you can help us ease the effects of this devastating event."
