Spectra Watermakers Introduces the New SP-20 Pearson Pump With Energy Recovery Technology

Spectra Watermakers' new 20 gpm version of the Pearson Pump is an elegant new high-pressure pump innovation that has been developed for energy efficient Reverse Osmosis desalination of seawater and brackish water. The Pearson Pump is an evolution and enhancement of reciprocating pump design. This unique pump system combines feed water pumping and energy recovery into a single unit, recapturing up to 80% of the energy wasted in a conventional system.

This evolutionary design dramatically increases the efficiency of a desalination system, bringing energy requirements down to an impressive 8 Watt Hours per Gallon (2.1 kW per 1000L), a major improvement for seawater desalination.

The SP-20 Pearson Pump is based on the proven SP-5 Pearson Pump that has been used in the field for over two years in places like Afghanistan, Dubai, Australia, Venezuela, Iraq, the South Pacific and Chile. After 2 years of extensive lab testing the SP-20 will be in field-testing applications by early 2011.
