Summer is on a Roll! Samuel Adams Offers Craft Beer & Seafood Lovers the Ultimate Seasonal Pairing
Samuel Adams Rolls Out the Samuel Adams® Summer Ale-Infused Lobster Roll with Partners Chef David Burke, Robinson's Prime Reserve and Red Hook Lobster Pound
BOSTON, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For many Americans, summertime conjures up images of sunshine, dining on fresh seafood and enjoying a chilled beer. To celebrate National Lobster Day on June 15, and the start of summer, Samuel Adams Chef Partner David Burke has created a Summer Ale-infused lobster roll recipe. Whether pairing or cooking with craft beer, Samuel Adams Summer Ale's crisp wheat character and built-in spice packet of lemon zest and Grains of Paradise complement the buttery, sweet lobster.
"What better way to celebrate summer's arrival than to recruit our friend Chef David to help reinvent this New England dish for beer lovers across the country – and pair it with the ultimate summer beer," says Jennifer Glanville, a brewer at Samuel Adams. "Lobster's rich flavors are nicely balanced by the bright complexities of Samuel Adams Summer Ale. Squeezing fresh lemon juice on the lobster will also work perfectly with the citrus and malt flavors in the beer, adding a sweetness that works with the citrus acidity."
Beer lovers across the country don't have to travel to the shore to indulge in this seasonal specialty. Samuel Adams, in partnership with artisanal meat and seafood purveyor Robinson's Prime Reserve, makes recreating Chef Burke's recipe at home simpler than ever with Samuel Adams Summer Ale Lobster Roll Packages, available starting June 2012 at RobinsonsPrimeReserve.com.

Samuel Adams Summer Ale-infused lobster roll tasting and pairing notes:
- The Samuel Adams Summer Ale-infused lobster roll, created by Chef David Burke, embodies the warm season by combining the brew's crisp wheat character and tangy, citrusy aromas with the buttery taste found in the lobster meat.
- Samuel Adams Summer Ale is brewed with Grains of Paradise, a cardamom-like pepper from Africa, first used as a brewing spice in the 13th Century and rumored to have aphrodisiac properties. This peppery taste cuts through the richness of the lobster meat and balances its sweet flavors while also adding a distinct yet subtle depth to the citrus and wheat tastes of the brew.
- Weighing in at 5.3% ABV, Samuel Adams Summer Ale is medium-bodied and hazy-gold in color.

ABOUT THE BOSTON BEER COMPANY:
The Boston Beer Company began in 1984 with a generations-old family recipe that Founder and Brewer Jim Koch uncovered in his father's attic. Inspired and unafraid to challenge conventional thinking about beer, Jim brought the recipe to life in his kitchen. Pleased with the results of his work, Jim decided to sample his beer with bars in Boston in the hopes that drinkers would appreciate the complex, full-flavored beer he brewed fresh in America. That beer was aptly named Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, in recognition of one of our nation's great founding fathers, a man of independent mind and spirit. Little did Jim know at the time, Samuel Adams Boston Lager soon became a catalyst of the American craft beer revolution.
Today, The Boston Beer Company brews more than 50 styles of beer. It relentlessly pursues the development of new styles and the perfection of classic beers by searching the world for the finest ingredients. Using the traditional four vessel brewing process, the Company often takes extra steps like dry-hopping, barrel-aging and a secondary fermentation known as krausening. The Company has also pioneered another revolution, the 'extreme beer' movement, where it seeks to challenge drinker's perceptions of what beer can be. The Boston Beer Company has been committed to elevating the image of American craft beer by entering festivals and competitions around the globe, and in the past five years has won more awards in international beer competitions than any other brewery in the world. As an independent company, brewing quality beer remains its single focus. Although Samuel Adams® beer is America's largest-selling craft beer, it accounts for only one percent of the U.S. beer market. The Boston Beer Company will continue its independently-minded quest to brew great beer and to advocate for the growth of craft beer across America.
