Super Ventures launches first incubator and investment fund dedicated to Augmented Reality

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Super Ventures launched today as the first combined incubator and investment fund dedicated to augmented reality (AR). The firm will fund and accelerate early-stage startups developing technologies that give people superpowers by augmenting the human experience. Super Ventures aims to drive innovation and growth in augmented reality by investing in startups which share its vision that augmented reality, virtual reality (VR) and wearable technology will overtake personal computing as the next platform.

"Establishing an investment fund and incubator furthers our influence in the AR space by allowing us to invest in passionate entrepreneurs and incubate technologies that will become the foundation for the next wave of computing."

Along with the debut of its inaugural $10 million fund, Super Ventures is announcing its initial investments in several AR companies including Waygo, a visual translation app specializing in Asian languages, and Fringefy, a visual search engine that helps people discover local content and services. The fund will also invest in technologies enabling AR, and is separately backing an unannounced company developing an intelligence system to crowdsource visual data.

The Super Ventures team is made up of Ori Inbar, Matt Miesnieks, Tom Emrich and Professor Mark Billinghurst.
