CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Providing a high-quality early childhood education for children who need extra support is the goal of TC Scholars Preschool, which will offer an academically ambitious environment and an integrated approach to social and emotional development. The school's mission is to ensure every child has the tools to thrive for the remainder of their schooling, ultimately achieving their full potential. TC Scholars Preschool is a new venture from Tuesday's Child, the renowned behavioral intervention program that's been transforming young lives for 35 years.

TC Scholars will conform to the Illinois Early Childhood Standards. Teachers and staff will emphasize school-readiness skills, including following directions, interacting appropriately with peers and participating fully in classroom activities. The curriculum will incorporate technology in a manner that adequately prepares children to excel in today's digital world.
Many preschool-aged children struggle with behavioral issues, and their parents often feel discouraged about the future. Recent statistical data indicates that as many as 1 in 5 preschool-aged children demonstrate challenging behavior in the classroom. Meanwhile, 25% of Chicago's preschool teachers cite behavioral issues in the classroom as their greatest concern. Somewhat surprisingly, preschoolers are expelled from school at three times the rate of K-12 students, as described in a 2005 Yale study. At that rate, over 6,000 Chicago preschoolers are expelled each year due to non-compliant behavior. The parents of these children deserve a solution that meets their needs without the looming threat of expulsion always around the corner.
Based on the success and reputation of Tuesday's Child, many local parents have already enrolled their children in TC Scholars. "From 18 months old, Luca has been an incredibly challenging child," explains Sarah, a prospective preschool parent. "We tried unsuccessfully to find a school that was a good fit, thinking structure and socialization would improve his interactions with everyone around him. Instead, after problems of the 'this may not be the best fit' variety at every school he attended, we feared that our family would face a lifetime of struggles at school. We were exhausted and losing hope. After a friend suggested it, we talked to Tuesday's Child and never looked back."
