Teen Actress Jordan Van Vranken Donates Film Proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jordan Van Vranken, a Memphis native who has found her way to the big screen, will premiere her new film, the indie feature After the Wizard, at Memphis' Malco Paradiso Theatre on October 27, 2012. After the Wizard screened at The International Family Film Festival in Hollywood earlier this year and opened in select theaters nationally.

Van Vranken has been very involved in fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis. Growing up in Memphis, she saw firsthand the incredible impact that the Ronald McDonald House has on the families it services. For this reason she, along with the director and distributor of the film, are donating all proceeds from the premiere to the John "Bad Dog" McCormack Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis.

"In the course of filming After the Wizard, I learned about Jordan's ongoing commitment to the Memphis Ronald McDonald House as well as the significant involvement of her mentor 'Bad Dog.' Doing anything with Jordan is a privilege. Given how much the Ronald McDonald House has done for children, it's an absolute honor to screen After the Wizard in support of this great organization and its continuing work," said Hugh Gross, director of After the Wizard.

Jordan's love and commitment to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House proved to be contagious. Jordan and Jermel Nakia, who plays the role of the Scarecrow in the film, will be at the premiere. The director and distributor plan to be in attendance as well.

"Memphis will always be home to me. I love coming back and I love being able to give back. Bad Dog was my mentor ... he encouraged me and we worked together during many Radiothon fundraisers. The Ronald McDonald House has become a huge part of my life and I think the work they do is amazing. I knew if I could give back with this film -- and if the Director and distributor agreed -- then a screening in Memphis with the benefits going to both of these organizations is what I would want to do," said Van Vranken.

Jordan Van Vranken has appeared in over 30 films including Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz, and television including Criminal Minds and Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush. Jordan was recognized at the 32nd Annual Young Artist Awards for "Best Actress in a Voice-Over Role" for her work in the Warner Brothers' animated series' Chadam where she dedicated her award to legendary Memphis disc jockey John "Bad Dog" McCormack who lost his battle to leukemia.
