The first food publication focused on cooking with cannabis debuts

CHICAGO, Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers across the country who want to cook or entertain with cannabis now have a print and online resource.

Kitchen Toke, which came off the press earlier this week, is a quarterly food magazine on cooking with cannabis and understanding its benefits. Accompanied by a digital component, Kitchen Toke is the first title independently published by three former colleagues with expertise and extensive experience in food journalism, design and business.

The magazine cover by David Plunkert, who's best known for his poignant New Yorker illustrations, introduces the inaugural issue with a section on the industry game changers—individuals representing their specialty and how they're leading the cannabis and food landscape. Other features include a relaxed, drama-free holiday season, homemade cannabis gifts that won't be re-gifted and a dive into the most notable pizza joints across the country—indispensable information to quell the munchies. Recipes range from simple to the more complex chef-driven dishes.

"So few people know how to cook with cannabis—an entire world beyond pot brownies exists," says editor-in-chief Laura Yee. "Because cannabis is legal in more than half the country, there's a huge and growing interest in cannabis aside from smoking it."

Last year, North American consumers spent $6.7 billion on legalized marijuana, a 34% increase from 2015, according to Arcview Market Research. Similar growth is expected for the current year.

The publication is setting a new standard in cannabis publications through its creative direction. On trend design, original photography and custom illustrations drive Kitchen Toke to engage readers even further. Beyond the print edition, readers will find rotating content and recipes from the magazine as well as digital exclusives and instructional videos on kitchentoke.com.
