ST. JAMES PARISH, La., Sept. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mosaic Company Foundation announced a $50,000 contribution to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and $25,000 to Capital Area United Way to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of the recent, historic flooding in southern Louisiana that claimed lives and caused significant damage to several communities.
Mosaic's contribution to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will allow the organization to recover from the vast losses it experienced as a result of the devastating flooding so that it can reopen its doors as quickly as possible to continue to meet vital needs in the communities it serves. Capital Area United Way will utilize the funding to assist neighbors in St. James and Ascension Parish with short-term and long-term relief and recovery, such as helping individuals maintain and rebuild their homes, lives, and health.

We are proud to support the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank in its important mission to feed the hungry in our region," said Mark Kaplan, The Mosaic Company Foundation Board President and Vice President, Phosphates Services. "With this financial support, the Food Bank can begin to clean and repair its facility while continuing to help those in need. Mosaic is likewise proud to partner with Capital Area United Way to help our friends and neighbors in the parishes where we live and work as they recover from the flooding."
These contributions underscore The Mosaic Company Foundation's commitment to building partnerships that enrich the long-term strength of communities in which Mosaic has offices and operations. Headquartered in Plymouth, Minn., Mosaic operates two facilities in St. James Parish, Louisiana.
