Top Business Leaders to Hold Press Conference on Nationwide Employee Voter Registration Drive
Initiative by America's Private Sector Aims to Register Thousands of New Voters
WASHINGTON, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This Wednesday, September 24th, representatives from some of Washington's top business trade associations will hold a press briefing on Employee Voter Registration Week (EVRW), which is a joint grassroots effort by companies and trade associations across the country to increase voter registration among private sector employees.
There are still millions of unregistered voters in the country, and ahead of the November midterm elections, EVRW has placed a priority on making a significant dent in those numbers. The initiative will not tell employees how to vote or who to vote for, but instead aims to serve as a resource to help employers educate their employees about the issues that are important to their industries and provide key deadlines, voter registration, and polling location information.
Already, thousands of new voter registration forms have been downloaded from EmployeesVote.org and our network of websites. The briefing will serve to inform the press on this growing initiative.
Employee Voter Registration Week is powered by BIPAC, a nonpartisan, membership-driven, organization dedicated to helping private sector employers and employees to be engaged in the political process.
