Trio of Best-Selling Female Authors Campaign for Sexual Equality in Public Reception of Erotic Novels

LONDON, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fem Writes, a new organisation fronted by successful author Sarah Luddington, has just been launched to combat a perceived bias against female authors who dare to push sexual boundaries and norms. Aided by Adele Carrington and Jenny Ainslie-Turner, the three are setting out to challenge the establishment view that female authors should only write in relatively specific genre.

"E L James has proven that female authors can push sexual boundaries in their writing," Sarah said. "But even she first published under an androgynous pseudonym. The author of Story Of O kept her identity secret for years and most assumed it had been written by a man, as a woman could never be capable of such writing. My own novels have caused a firestorm on Amazon as I write in first person as a bi-sexual medieval knight, yet similar tales written by men rarely raise an eyebrow."

Fellow author Adele Carrington has recently been featured on radio and in the national press due to the exposure that she leads a polyamorous lifestyle. Her latest vampire novel, 'Denial', has a polyamorous heroine who has already created furor. "In the mid-eighteenth century Casanova wrote his diary, 'Histoire de ma vie' which made the male author a folk hero," Adele said. "Yet a hundred years later, one of the greatest female authors, Jane Austen, had to release her first novel under the pseudonym 'A Lady' as the content was deemed unladylike."

Jenny Ainslie-Turner is the third part of this trio of fiery ladies. Her own novel, 'Will You Be My Fantasy' is inspired by her own life as a telephone sex girl and is currently causing quite a stir. "I think it's terribly hypocritical," she said. "Men can write erotic fiction and nobody bats an eyelid, yet female writers tend to have to write under pen names which are then assumed to be men anyway!"
