PARIS, Nov. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) 70th Anniversary Celebration on November 16th, a new universal storytelling platform, Mosaic of Change (MOC), will be unveiled. It presents a visual language that spurs intercultural dialogue and understanding, transforming UNESCO's iconic headquarters with large scale interactive multi- sensory experiences designed to inspire people and foster change.
The MOC Interactive Media Communications Installation and Live Architectural Projection Experience, reflecting UNESCO's defining moments of the past seven decades and highlighting current activities focused on the pillars of Education, Science, Culture, and Communication, are designed to transcend cultural barriers and engage people to change the world.
In addition to the onsite experiences that special guests ranging from Heads of State to delegations from Member States and Youth will have, on November 16th from 9:00 pm – 12:00 am Paris time, the local public is invited to view the projection show from Avenue de Lowendal in Paris., while the global audience is invited to watch the webcast www.mosaicofchange.org.
"Mosaic of Change utilizes art and technology to educate and inform citizens about how UNESCO functions as a hub to forge universal agreements on the most pressing modern issues," noted Eric Falt, Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information at UNESCO. "This creative platform reflects what we have achieved to date, and reminds us of focusing our time and resources where change is still needed most."
Launching this innovative educational and artistic undertaking has involved international collaboration between UNESCO, Millennium ART, the organizers and curators, Obscura Digital, the creative technology studio, and the Li Ka Shing Foundation, the global title sponsor.
"The Mosaic of Change exhibition and projection show have weaved together a visually beautiful story from the rich UN archive, showcasing the very best that humanity can bring." said Ms. Solina Chau, Executive Director of the Li Ka Shing Foundation.
The MOC Interactive Media Communications Installation is on exhibit at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris from November 3 - December 11, 2015, spanning several high level events ranging from the General Conference, Leaders Forum, and the COP21 Climate Change Conference. Dynamic visual content including photos, video, data visualizations, audio quotes world music, and narratives, is presented in UNESCO's six official languages. Visitors can share their MOC experience at UNESCO through the Social Media Activation Station.
"The Mosaic of Change started as a vision that brought some of the most amazing creative talent together from all corners of the globe to design and manifest a platform for change" said Mia Hanak, Executive Director of Millennium ART. "The concept behind MOC is to highlight and connect individuals working to create change no matter what their tools and capacities are, as each story makes up one piece of the bigger picture, and that bigger picture is a sustainable world worth passing on to future generations."
In celebration of UNESCO's 70th anniversary, the MOC Live Architectural Projection Experience will be a first-of-its-kind large scale projection show canvassing the facades of UNESCO's headquarters' buildings in Paris. The narrative of the show spans from 1945 - 2015, starting with UNESCO's founding purpose and progressing to a finale focused on imagining peace. The show runs for three nights, from November 16th - 18th.
"Having the opportunity to bring UNESCO's archival multimedia collection and world music collection to life through large-scale, high resolution experiences is unprecedented," stated Chris Lejeune, Co- Founder and CEO of Obscura Digital. "Our aim is to use this powerful content to influence minds and inspire positive actions in order to make this world a better place."
We face a crucial moment for fostering peace and sustainable development, and it requires all tools at our disposal. In our visual world, a single photo can turn the tide on policy and one great quote can impact perception. Mosaic of Change uniquely harnesses images, visuals, and sound, making important information easily accessible and sharable.
