SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vaadin, the company behind the popular open source web application development tools, today released version 8.0 of the Java web UI framework, Vaadin Framework. The 8-series further simplifies the development of business applications by making Java developers even more productive due to significant enhancements in developer experience.
Vaadin Framework is used by over 150 000 developers around the world, for creating business critical applications that require a snappy user experience, work across devices and deliver a coherent and good look 'n' feel. It is used heavily in healthcare, finance and retail and includes customers such as Puma, CGI Healthcare and Deutsche Bank.
The biggest enhancement in Vaadin Framework 8 is its re-written data binding API that utilizes improvements in recent Java versions, such as type parameters and lambda expressions. It is also much lighter on the CPU and more efficient at using memory. The new API makes it more efficient for existing users, but also much easier for the new users getting started with using Vaadin, with a minimal amount of boilerplate code.

For existing users, however, migrating from Vaadin 7 to Vaadin 8 is hassle-free, by the use of a separate migration package.
