Vision Airlines Announces New Non-Stop Flights to Grand Bahama Beginning in November, 2011 - Vision Airlines' Expansion in the Leisure Travel Market Continues With New Flights and Destinations
SUWANEE, Ga., June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Vision Airlines announced it will be adding flights to Grand Bahama Island starting in November. Vision Airlines has signed an agreement with the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board to begin service to the tropical paradise beginning this November. The flights will originate from Ft Lauderdale, FL, Louisville, KY, Richmond, VA, Raleigh/Durham, NC and Baltimore/Washington airports. Additionally, direct flights (1-stop, no change of plane) will be available from Destin/Ft Walton Beach. Flights will begin the week of November 14, 2011. These new non-stop flights will make flying to the Bahamas affordable again. The new fares will start as low as $99* round trip from Ft Lauderdale and as low as $149* each way from the other cities. Great package rates are also going to be offered with 4 day/3 night packages starting as low as $299* per person (double occupancy).
"These new flights will help to revitalize the tourism economy for Grand Bahama Island. The Island is gorgeous and there is so much for a visitor to enjoy, including world-class bone fishing, a variety of eco-tourism opportunities, beautiful beaches, great watersports, golf and fantastic shopping and dining," said David Meers, Vision Airlines Chief Operating Officer. "Grand Bahama Island has always been a great destination but getting there has become a very expensive and time-consuming process. Our new non-stop, low-fare flights will make getting to Grand Bahama Island easy and affordable. Our public/private partnership with the tourism board is a very good model and one that we have used successfully in Florida," added Meers.
"We are pleased to partner with Vision Airlines to bring these flights to Grand Bahama Island," said Magnus Alnebeck, Chairman of the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board. "The flights will reposition Grand Bahama again as a closer and affordable paradise to these markets, some of which are new for The Bahamas," he continued. "We will absolutely deliver on the value that our proximity to the East Coast of USA brings."
"This agreement and new service further strengthens and diversifies our robust schedule of flights to some of the most popular vacation destinations. Adding non-stop flights to Grand Bahama will continue to further entrench the Vision Airlines' brand in the leisure travel market. Our agreement with Funjet Vacations added 3 new destinations including Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana and now we look forward to becoming the low-cost carrier to the Bahamas," added Meers.
Vision Airlines will add Richmond, Raleigh/Durham and Baltimore/Washington when service to Grand Bahama Island begins in the fall.
