WiLAN Subsidiary Signs License Agreement with MediaTek

OTTAWA, Oct. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - Wi-LAN Inc. ("WiLAN"), a Quarterhill Inc. ("Quarterhill") company (TSX: QTRH) (NASDAQ: QTRH), today announced that WiLAN's wholly‑owned subsidiary, Polaris Innovations Limited ("Polaris"), has granted a term license for certain patents owned by Polaris to MediaTek Inc. ("MediaTek"). 

The licensed patents relate to memory interface technology and are part of the portfolio that Polaris acquired from Infineon Technologies in June 2015.

MediaTek is the global market leader in chipset technology for Smart TVs, Voice Assistant Devices, Android tablets, feature phones, Optical and Blu-ray DVD players, and is also the second largest global vendor of chipsets for mobile phone applications. MediaTek is headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan and is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange under the symbol (TWSE: 2454).

The consideration paid by MediaTek to Polaris and all other terms of the license agreement are confidential.
