World Champion Eater Kobayashi to Judge Hofmann Hot Dog Challenge

DALLAS, Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hofmann Hot Dogs Brand Ambassador and world champion competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi  judges the Hofmann Hot Dog Challenge amateur hot dog eating contest Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Texas State Fair. The Hofmann Hot Dog Challenge takes place on the Chevy Main Stage at 4 p.m. CT in front of crowds gathering for Texas-OU weekend. Following the contest, Kobayashi plans to demonstrate his world-famous competitive eating skills.

Winners of the contest receive: 1^st Place $1,000; 2^nd Place $500; 3^rd Place $250. Hofmann Hot Dogs also plans to donate $1000 to the North Texas Food Bank. A representative from the Food Bank accepts a presentation check at the end of the Hofmann Hot Dog Challenge.

Kobayashi recently joined the Hofmann Hot Dogs "dream team" of investors, including Zaccanelli, the Oneida Indian Nation, Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim, football legend Roger Staubach, and Fuddruckers and Macaroni Grill founder Phil Romano.

Hofmann, the oldest hot dog company in the country, was founded in Syracuse, NY in 1879 but was only available in Central New York stores until the new ownership took over earlier this year.  Hofmann has expanded its retail distribution outside of Central New York with Albertson's and Brookshire's supermarkets with plans for a much larger national and international reach.  Using the expertise of restaurateur Phil Romano, Hofmann also plans to open a chain of "Hofmann Hots" quick service restaurants across the country, starting in the Trinity Groves Development, located in West Dallas, in November of this year.
