RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of its Let's Talk Tour and recent unveiling of the Genworth R70 Age Simulation Suit, Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE: GNW), announced a partnership today with award-winning journalist and producer, New York Times best-selling author and activist for social change and equality, Maria Shriver.
The company also released the first "Conversations That Matter: Maria Shriver and Rob Lowe," an educational video series, which is the first piece of content created from the partnership. In the first video, Maria Shriver and longtime friend, actor Rob Lowe, sit down to discuss the impact of aging in America and the importance of raising awareness around long term care planning. Maria and Rob's personal caregiving experiences speak to the importance of the subject matter and encourage viewers to talk about long term care with their family and friends.
Conversations Around Long Term Care Planning
"Having your loved ones under one roof during the holiday season is the perfect time to start talking about long term care planning," says Tom McInerney, Genworth's President and CEO. "We are honored that Maria Shriver, a respected journalist and thought-leader who's used her voice to champion and advocate for Alzheimer's and caregivers across the nation, is partnering with us. She is known for creating conversations and initiatives around pressing critical and societal issues that impact men and women. We're thrilled that she will join us and use her voice in helping to encourage Americans to have important conversations about how they want to age."
In addition to participating in "Conversations That Matter: Maria Shriver and Rob Lowe," MariaShriver.com will host several pieces of content which will be presented by Genworth.
"We are increasingly becoming a caregiving nation, with 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 per day,"1 says Maria Shriver. "I'm happy to partner with Genworth to initiate and ignite conversations between families and across generations about care needs and expectations. These are important conversations and realities that affect both men and women and there is no better time to talk about them than now."
