14th Annual Taste Of The Town Raises $52,000 For Muscular Dystrophy Association
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of Valley foodies, wine enthusiasts and the culinary curious danced, ate, drank and bid under the stars at the 14th annual Taste of the Town on Oct. 17. The event, held at the Quad at Scottsdale Quarter, raised more than $52,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The fun-filled evening, emceed by KTVK's April Warnecke and KPHO's Mark McClune, featured food and beverages from more than 20 of the Valley's most popular restaurants, breweries and wineries, including Sushi Brokers, who flew in a Big Eye Tuna for a live carving event. The night also featured live music from local band Elvis Before Noon.
Highlighting the evening, the silent auction grabbed quite a bit of attention from guests. The night's largest bid came in at $900 for a miniature Poodle, followed by a $750 bid on an 18-person suite at an Arizona Diamondbacks game and a $750 bid on roundtrip airline tickets with Southwest Airlines. In addition to the silent auction, the event raised funds with the Cornelis Hollander wine and jewelry Drinks with Dazzle raffle, which sent three lucky participants home with diamond-encrusted necklaces.
One of the most notable charity events in the Valley, Taste of the Town benefits more than 2,400 Arizona families affected by neuromuscular diseases. The Muscular Dystrophy Association, a voluntary national health agency consisting of a combination of both scientists and citizens, strives to combat a variety of diseases that impair the muscle function of more than 1 million Americans. MDA is the nation's largest nongovernmental funder of scientific research seeking better treatments and cures for the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases in its program.
The event, presented by Cigna, featured vendors such as Tanzy, Capital Grille, TK's Urban Tavern, True Food Kitchen, Fogo De Chao, Brio Tuscan Grille, Lucille's BBQ, Grimaldi's Pizzeria and more.
