16 Highly Anticipated Late-Breaking Clinical Trials To Be Presented, Luminaries To Be Honored, At VIVA 16

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- VIVA Physicians, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the field of vascular medicine and intervention through education and research, is excited to announce the late-breaking clinical trials to be presented at its annual conference, VIVA16.  Sixteen trial results, featuring the latest in vascular technology, procedures and devices, will be released for the first time on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, September 19, 20 and 21 at the Wynn, Las Vegas.

LIVE Award
Mark Bates, MD, Professor of Medicine and Surgery at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Charleston, West Virginia, will receive the LIVE Award which honors A Leader In EndoVascular Education – recognizing vascular specialists who have dedicated their professional careers to educating students, post-graduate trainees, and peers in all aspects of vascular medicine and intervention. 

ATLAS AWARD
Thomas Rooke, MD, former Head of the Section of Vascular Medicine and founder of the Mayo Clinic Wound Care Center, will be recognized with the ATLAS award, A Teacher, Leader, And, Scholar Award – The ATLAS Award has celebrated the career and impact of physicians who have distinguished themselves as scholars and leaders in their respective vascular fields.  

Vascular Career Advancement Award
The 2016 Vascular Career Advancement Awards will be presented to Saher Sabri, MD and Antonio Micari, MD.  VIVA and LINC have collaborated to develop the award to recognize young physicians who show promise as potential leaders in the vascular field and who have been practicing for 10 years or less. Dr. Saher Sabri is an interventional radiologist and currently Associate Professor of Radiology and Surgery at the University of Virginia.  Dr. Micari is an interventional cardiologist, responsible for the CLI Program at Maria Cecilia Hospital in Ravenna, Italy.  He is considered one of the leading international specialists in the PAD space and in limb salvage in patients with diabetic foot syndrome.
