Research Objectives and Methodology
Research Objectives
The overall research objective is to measure the current use and future decision-making behavior toward mobile enterprise applications, including some specific focus on mobile asset tracking, mobile sales force automation (SFA), mobile workforce management, and wireless email solutions.
Methodology and Sample
Using a Web-based survey methodology during June 2014, Frost & Sullivan surveyed North American decision makers who were working in businesses and who were responsible for purchasing mobile software applications.
Frost & Sullivan's survey methodology uses online panels to source only qualified respondents. Respondents must meet requirements set by a screening process prior to full-survey participation. Online panels consist of individuals who volunteer to participate in Web-based surveys and typically receive compensation directly from their panel membership for participating in qualified survey research. In general, survey respondents do not receive direct compensation from Frost & Sullivan for participating in research projects.

Executive Summary
Sustained Interest
Interest in mobile software applications for employees (business-to-employee (B2E)) remains strong. In 2013, % of respondent companies reported deploying at least mobile worker app. In 2014, this figure has risen to % of respondents. The largest proportion of businesses (%) have implemented between 1 and apps.
This is a growth market. Looking forward, % of respondent companies plan to deploy additional mobile worker apps during the 2014 to 2015 time period.
This study deep-drills on mobile enterprise app categories that can be more expensive and require more complex design and deployment efforts. Despite these requirements, the percentage of businesses reporting implementation has increased significantly, compared to 2013. In addition, a high percentage of current users plan to expand their implementations over the near term. The proportion of businesses professing a lack of interest in the newer apps (mobile SFA, mobile workforce management, and mobile asset tracking) has decreased markedly since 2013, possibly indicating an improvement in vendor marketing efforts.
