WHAT: Student teams representing 27 New Jersey high schools will compete for more than $40,000 in individual scholarships and prizes in the finals of the Panasonic Creative Design Challenge (CDC), a premier science and engineering technology competition for public and private New Jersey high school students.
In this year's "Mars 3000"-themed challenge, each team has designed and built a remote controlled robotic device that has the ability to maneuver through an obstacle course and complete several tasks that are associated with space exploration. In the finals, student teams will demonstrate their robotic device and will be judged on the quality of their written report, oral presentation, engineering logbook entries, as well as the performance of their apparatus. Winning teams are awarded special category prizes, as well as scholarships to be used exclusively for college expenses.
