27 Ryan Offices Across the U.S. Win 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility
DALLAS, Aug. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, today announced that 27 of the Firm's locations across the United States won 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. This prestigious award recognizes employers that successfully leverage workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results. All 27 U.S. Ryan offices that entered the 2013 Sloan Award competition were recognized, including Atlanta, Austin, Baton Rouge, Boston, Carlsbad, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Downers Grove, Fort Lauderdale, Glendale, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Providence, San Francisco, Seattle, Scottsdale, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.
Applicants were evaluated in a rigorous two-step process. First, Ryan's application was compared nationally to representative data from the Families and Work Institute's National Study of Employers. Ryan employees, in each of the 27 offices receiving the award, were then randomly surveyed on their access to flexible work options and the supportiveness of the Ryan culture, and compared against nationally tested measures of workplace effectiveness. These awards validate the strength of Ryan's flexible work programs, policies, and culture in creating an effective and flexible workplace.
In August 2008, Ryan launched myRyan, an innovative work environment that changed the measurement of work performance from hours worked to results achieved. The Firm rolled out myRyan as a major culture shift designed to reach even higher levels of client service and employee satisfaction. Since its inception, myRyan has delivered tremendous dividends for the Firm, its clients, and its employees. Ryan has dramatically improved employee retention and satisfaction, while demonstrating solid year-over-year revenue growth. Most importantly, Ryan employees have achieved the highest client satisfaction ratings in the history of the Firm, while enjoying the freedom to meet the competing demands of work and life.
"Our research consistently finds that employees in effective and flexible workplaces have greater engagement on the job and greater desire to stay with their organization," said Ellen Galinsky, President of the Families and Work Institute. "In addition, they report lower stress levels and better overall health."
"I want to personally thank our associates for this tremendous honor," said G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan. "We are forging a new age of business productivity based on workplace flexibility, leading to even higher levels of client service and results." The Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility is part of the When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute and Society for Human Resource Management.
