--University City's 40th Street Transit Hub Emerges as Philadelphia's Corridor for the Highest Standards in Environmental Responsibility--
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --3.0 University Place announces a partnership with SageGlass Saint-Gobain to build a 190,000 square foot, Class A commercial office building at 41st and Market Streets in the University City section of Philadelphia. The project is part of a bold plan to create a "Platinum Corridor" of commercial and retail space in University City that meets the highest standards for high-performance green buildings.
"3.0 University Place will be an unmistakable iconic symbol of University City's emerging status as a world-class biopharma, research and technology destination," said Scott Mazo, developer of 3.0 University Place. "Our partnership with Saint-Gobain, a world leader in sustainable habitat, and their SageGlass unit reflects our commitment to establish this project as a super cool, healthy, workplace showcase. The dynamic, tintable SageGlass Saint-Gobain facade will not only feature unmatched efficiency, it will provide a stunning exterior that will reflect light in an array of colors as the sun moves across the sky."
LEED v4 is the newest version of the world's premier benchmark for high-performance green buildings as established by the United States Green Building Council. 3.0 University Place will meet these standards by featuring:
- Continuous fresh air ventilation
- Super efficient Semco Chilled Beam heating and cooling systems that reduce both internal air pollution and energy costs
- Storm water management through an extensive modular green roof; and rainwater collection to be used in the chilled water system
- A rooftop garden that improves air quality, conserves energy and reduces runoff
- Open floor plans that provide a cleaner, healthier, more-productive work atmosphere
- A transit oriented development (TOD) project, conveniently located one block from Septa's Market-Frankfort line and close to Septa Rail and Amtrak hubs at 30th and Markets Streets
Upon completion, 3.0 University Place will advance the development of the Platinum Corridor, a series of platinum LEED-certified buildings in University City. The first project completed by University Place Associates in the Platinum Corridor was 2.0 University Place, the first multi-certified and multi-tenant LEED Platinum new construction office building in the world and the flagship green building in Philadelphia, featuring more than 100,000 sq. ft. of office space. 3.0 University Place will sit adjacent to its predecessor, bringing University Place Associates one step closer to creating a Platinum Corridor in University City, which also includes plans for a 4.0 University Place in the future.
"At Saint-Gobain, we believe in the power of our products and SageGlass is a shining example of how innovative building materials can transform the work environment to one of greater comfort and productivity," said John Crowe, President and CEO of Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Corporations. "As partners on this marquee project, we share University Place Associates' passion to create beautiful workspaces that also improve the overall health and well-being of building occupants and we know SageGlass will deliver on that promise."
"As the largest installation of SageGlass Saint-Gobain to date, 3.0 University Place will showcase the many ways in which our dynamic glass can enhance the indoor experience for occupants unlike any other building in the world," said Alan McLenaghan, CEO of SageGlass. "University Place Associates' like-minded vision to challenge the conventions of the traditional workspace by creating spaces built to benefit occupants and the environment provided the foundation for close collaboration and partnership. We're thrilled to be such an essential part of this landmark project."
