39-36 Score at U.S. Army All-American Bowl; West Takes the Advantage, Series 8-7
Running Back Derrius Guice Named MVP
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Jan. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The West squad defeated the East, 39-36, in front of 35,687 attendees at the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. The West team's win put them up one game with eight wins to the East's seven in the Army Bowl series. The West team's running back, Derrius Guice (Catholic High School, Baton Rouge, La.), was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Scoring Recap: The East team took an early lead in the game with help from kicker Rodrigo Blankenship. The West team answered quickly with a 92-yard pass play from Travis Waller to Derrius Guice and added six more points with a Derrick Dillon 25-yard touchdown reception with 11:21 remaining in the second quarter. Porter Gustin intercepted a deflected pass from Drew Lock and scored on a 28-yard interception return. Ben Humphreys followed with a 21-yard interception return of his own. The West scored again with 1:38 remaining in the first half, as running back Derrius Guice scored on a 61-yard pass from quarterback Ricky Town. The East scored with 0:48 remaining in the half on a Lawrence Cager 54-yard pass from Deon Cain. In the third quarter, the West added another field goal from Kevin Robledo before the East scored three straight touchdowns to open the fourth quarter. TJ Rahming scored twice, first on a 63-yard pass from Sam Darnold and then on a 41-yard run with 9:30 left in the fourth quarter. Deon Cain added a 50-yard touchdown reception from Drew Lock to make the score 36-29 at the 7:25 mark. Kicker Kevin Robledo added another field goal for the West squad before Tarvarus McFadden had an 87-yard kickoff return for the East, ending the game at 39-36.

Through the Air: LSU commit Derrius Guice set a bowl record of 153 receiving yards on two catches for two touchdowns. Quarterback Brady White went 6 for 8 with 70 yards and one touchdown for the West. TJ Rahming led the East team with two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving for a total of 106 all-purpose yards, and Deon Cain of the East team had both a 54-yard passing touchdown and a 50-yard receiving touchdown.
