LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wende Museum of Culver City, the world's largest archive of the Cold War, will unveil new artwork by street artists D*Face, Herakut, and Retna on the museum's original 40-foot Berlin Wall at 5900 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 13 at 2:30pm.

The unveiling ceremony, entitled "Behind the Berlin Wall," will be attended by London's D*Face, Germany's Herakut, and L.A.'s Retna and include a sneak preview of The Wende's new exhibition, The Surveillance Project, a survey of Cold War-era surveillance equipment recently added to the Museum's collections of over 65,000 objects from Communist-era Eastern Europe.

The Wende Museum's Berlin Wall on Wilshire Boulevard is the world's largest stretch of Berlin Wall outside of Germany. For 28 years, from 1961 to 1989, the Wall divided East and West Germany and millions of families, friends, and lovers. Artists and individuals from all walks of life transformed the concrete barrier into a canvas reflecting real and imagined divisions of life in Berlin.

The Wende acquired the segments in 2009 and installed them on the grounds of 5900 Wilshire on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 2009.

"Behind the Berlin Wall" is being sponsored by Los Angeles Magazine, Virgin Atlantic, the Ratkovich Company, The British Council, The Consulate General of Germany, LA Inc., Montana Cans, Oliver's Cafe, BBQ Express, Glenfiddich, and the City of Los Angeles.

Access to the Berlin Wall is free and open to the public.  A private reception in the lobby of 5900 Wilshire from 1pm to 4pm is limited to 200.  Reception tickets are $50 and available online at www.WendeMuseum.org or by calling 310-216-1600, extension 305.
