A particular focus of the recent wave was consumers' receptivity to a program where they would receive discounts for sharing their wearables data with a health insurance company.
"We were surprised to see that so many would choose to share," says Michael LaColla, CEO of Troubadour Research, "primarily because there are segments in the population who are defined by their concerns about data privacy."
Other findings from the survey include:
- 56% of connected Americans would have concerns about how a health insurance company would use the data they shared;
- However, 63% do believe that wearables can help them be more fit or healthy;
- 24% of currently own a wearable device.
