CHATHAM, N.J., Dec. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- East West Math LLC will hold its 5th annual Singapore Math Summer Institute in New York City on August 20th and 21st 2018. Educators across the United States will have an opportunity to learn new Singapore Math teaching strategies and take advantage of the many exciting events that New York City offers to its visitors.
East West Math's Singapore Math professional development workshops will help educators gain the mathematical content knowledge, which is necessary to teach all Singapore Math based programs that include Math in Focus, Primary Mathematics, Maths-No Problem!, Eureka Math, NYS Modules, and others. The breakout sessions for K-2 and Grade 3-5 teachers will focus on developing knowledge in the following areas: developing number sense, building fluency with games and activities, developing problem-solving skills with Abacus, problem-solving with math journals and boards, multiplication and division, fractions, and advanced bar modeling.
These newly designed workshops will feature a variety of fun activities with Abacus as well as introduce the unique math fact fluency card manipulatives. All of these activities are based on the constructivist Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract pedagogy on which Singapore Math is founded.
The many benefits of the Summer Institute will include providing educators with the practical instructional strategies, formative assessment tools & techniques, and companion manipulatives that teachers could use with their students immediately. Participants will learn: new games & activities for developing student mastery of math facts, strategies for increasing mental math skills, visualization techniques for developing cardinality of numbers, differentiating instruction with a wealth of math activities, implementing game centers with the new manipulatives and formatively assessing students with easy-to-use assessment rubrics.

Additionally, presenters will be available during the seminars to answer questions related to implementation of the Singapore Math programs, differentiating instruction as well as address individual needs of teachers.

Early Bird Discounted Registration of $575 is available through May 31st, 2018. A registration fee of $55 will be added to the cost of seminars, starting June 1st, 2018.
All workshops are scheduled from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Space is limited to 30 participants in each workshop. Fee includes lunch & personalized certificate of participation.
