The project is being reincarnated as "66 Summer Street – Downtown Luxury Rentals & Retail." City officials, together with the developer and the design and construction team, will participate in the tradition of signing the final steel beam before it is hoisted to mark the "topping off" of the building's 15-story steel structure. The ceremony will commemorate the hard work of the construction team at Associated Construction Company/A.P. Construction, LLC and the tradespeople on the job, as well as the continued support of Mayor Michael Pavia and the Urban Redevelopment Commission.
The structural steel at 66 Summer Street is significant in an era of rising construction costs that challenges the ability of any new construction project to get off the ground. The steel framed building, together with its solid precast concrete paneled exterior, is designed with a centralized mechanical heating and cooling system that enhances the energy efficiency of the building. Trinity hopes 66 Summer Street, upon its completion in the spring of 2015, will set a high bar for the built environment of downtown Stamford.
Mayor Michael A. Pavia said, "I can think of no finer development project with which to end my term as Mayor. It serves as a model for how a committed and thoughtful developer working with the City brings life to a site that has been dormant for a decade."
Patrick Lee, Principal and Executive Vice President of Trinity Financial, Inc., said, "Trinity applauds the incredible progress that the construction crews have made in erecting the steel frame for 66 Summer Street. We are proud of our collective commitment with the City, the URC and our partners to creating a landmark development in the downtown, and we believe our distinctive yellow crane in the skyline is a symbol of the Stamford's strength and promise."
Andrew B. Ashforth, CEO and President of A.P. Construction Company, says of the project, "Associated Construction/A.P. Construction, LLC is pleased to reach this second important project milestone six months after our ground breaking last May. We want to thank our project team and subcontractors for their hard work, the many City officials that have helped expedite the approval, permit and inspection process and, of course, Trinity Financial, the developer, for having the confidence in us to execute this visionary project."
Trinity Financial, Inc. is a Boston-based real estate development and management firm founded in 1987 that has completed over $1.7 billion worth of development and is active on $730 million of development in its pipeline. This represents more than 8,000 units of housing.
