Modo/Moksha studios are a community of independently-owned hot yoga studios that originated in Toronto, Canada, with over 70 studios in North America. Modo Yoga Portland is the 12th studio open in the U.S. Modo/Moksha classes are an accessible form of hot yoga (98-101 degrees Fahrenheit) designed to strengthen and tone muscles, detoxify the body and calm the mind.
As a collective community, there is a large focus on outreach and karma yoga, which includes national and international fundraising initiatives. Each week, each studio takes the entire proceeds from their karma classes and donates to a local or international charity. For March and April, Modo/Moksha studios are participating in a nationwide Grow Your Yoga campaign, which aims to raise $150,000 towards climate change initiatives, including the Masaii Wilderness Conservation Trust Fund, David Suzuki Foundation, 350.org, and Pull Together. Over the past 10 years of Modo/Moksha studios in operation, the community has raised over 3 million dollars donated to charities.
Modo Yoga Portland is a new edition to the blossoming Central Eastside community. With a 7,000 square foot facility, complete with 22' high ceilings, an open-air concept, large windows, luscious plants, spacious change rooms complete with lockers and cedar showers, and a partnership with Greenleaf Juicing Company; this is a yoga facility like no other in Portland. Classes begin as early as 7 am through 8:30 pm, and with a wide variety of classes on the schedule, including Vinyasa, Yin, Yang/Yin and the hatha-based Modo sequence, there is something for everyone.
