Visitors are encouraged to stroll through ABC's beautiful 2.5 acres of themed gardens. Christopher Hobbs, LAc, AHG, will lead an engaging herb walk in ABC's organic herb gardens from 9:00 a.m. until noon and will focus on plants that contribute to liver health, organic diet, and stress relief. Hobbs is a licensed acupuncturist, a 4th generation herbalist with more than 30 years of clinical experience, and the director of formulations for Rainbow Light. In addition, he has written or contributed to more than 20 books on herbs.

Beginning at 12:15 p.m., ABC will dedicate its new Ayurvedic Garden, number 31 in ABC's medicinal theme gardens. ABC Founder and Executive Director Mark Blumenthal will recognize the sponsors of the new garden: Nature's Formulary, Organix-South, and Dr. Ikhlas Khan (University of Mississippi). A short discussion on the garden, its design and purpose, and some of the plants chosen for inclusion will follow.

The dedication of the garden will be followed by refreshments with tea provided by Zhi Tea and Pukka Tea on the patio, weather permitting, or in ABC's education annex. Books, membership information, and sample issues of ABC's quarterly, peer-reviewed journal HerbalGram will also be available.

About HerbDay

HerbDay is a coordinated series of independently produced public educational events celebrating the importance of herbs and herbalism. HerbDay was initiated by 5 nonprofit organizations with interests in herbs and herbalism (the HerbDay Coalition) to raise public awareness about the significance of herbs in our lives and the many ways herbs can be used safely and creatively for health, beauty care, and culinary enjoyment. Greater familiarity with herbs will increase informed use of herbal products and build public support for maintaining personal choice in the use of botanicals. www.herbday.org.
