For the First Time Absolute Software is Included in the Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention by Gartner, Inc.
VANCOUVER, Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Niche quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention* (DLP).
This is the first year Absolute Software has been included in this Magic Quadrant which it believes is a direct result of the acquisition in July 2013 of Palisade Systems. Absolute Software is also positioned in the Visionaries quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Client Management Tools ** and the Niche quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management Software*** by Gartner, Inc.
Absolute DLP allows organizations to track and prevent the movement of sensitive and confidential records from leaving the enterprise network including data in use, in motion or at rest. It provides users with the ability to analyze data moving across the network, in real-time, and across all network protocols including: email, social media, web traffic, and file transfers.
During the past years, the enterprise content-aware DLP market has continued to experience steady growth, with content-aware DLP market revenue growing from $369 million in 2010 to $458 million in 2011 to $572 million in 2012. Gartner, Inc.'s current estimate is that this market will reach between $680 million and $710 million in 2013, and is estimated to grow an additional 22 percent to 25 percent by the end of 2014, to reach approximately $830 million.*
"We feel that our placement in three Magic Quadrants by Gartner, Inc. is further validation that we are offering the right solutions," said Errol Olsen, CEO at Absolute Software. "Our customers take data and network security very seriously. Absolute DLP allows them to monitor and control the corporate data and other information flowing in and out of their organization."
For inclusion in the December 12, 2013 Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware DLP, vendor solutions were considered based on the following criteria: can detect sensitive content in at least two operations: network traffic, data at rest or endpoint, have a relatively sophisticated, centralized policy and event management console, can detect sensitive content using at least three of the following content-aware detection techniques: partial and exact document matching, structured data fingerprinting, statistical analysis, extended regular expression matching, and conceptual and lexicon analysis, can support the detection of sensitive data content in structured and unstructured data, using registered or described data definitions, can block, at minimum, policy violations that occur via email communications and were generally available as of June 30th, 2013.
