Acal BFi Introduce the Award-winning Nano Spider From OriginGPS
WOKINGHAM, England, August 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Award-winning miniature module makes it possible for manufacturers to bring accurate GPS to tiny devices
Acal BFi, the European leader in advanced technology solutions, are pleased to introduce the award-winning and world's smallest GPS module from OriginGPS to the European market.
The Nano Spider is a fully integrated, highly sensitive GPS receiver module. Measuring only 4.1 x 4.1 x 2.1mm and with minimal power consumption, it is ideal for smart watches, wearable devices, trackers, and digital cameras. A double-sided circuit design reduces footprint size and makes the Nano Spider 47 percent smaller than previous solutions.
The module has recently been awarded a prestigious Electron d'Or 2015 by the French magazine ElectroniqueS in the embedded category for its small form factor and multilayer design. The Electron d'Or 2015 award winners are chosen by an independent jury of recognised experts in the electronics industry and are selected from products released in the year leading up to the awards.
"It is an honour to receive an award of such distinction for a design that exemplifies all that OriginGPS stands for," said Gal Jacobi, CEO of OriginGPS. We are committed to providing high-quality GPS and impeccable accuracy to the small devices of our time."
"OriginGPS brings a service that is necessary for the technology of today to come to fruition," said Matthias Beuther, European Product Manager - Wireless Products at Acal BFi. "Its combination of miniscule size and tremendous power is something we are proud to bring to the European market. We congratulate OriginGPS on their recent award and believe it was well-deserved."
Offering accuracy of approximately one metre, the Nano Spider achieves a rapid time to first fix (TTFF) of less than one second, and tracking sensitivity of -163dBm. The module achieves a state of near continuous availability by detecting changes in context, temperature and satellite signals. By maintaining and opportunistically updating its internal fine time, frequency, and satellite data, the Nano Spider consumes mere microwatts of battery power.
The module also features OriginGPS' proprietary Noise Free Zone (NFZ™) system. Increasing noise immunity even under marginal signal conditions, it allows the module to provide high accuracy in dense urban areas, under thick foliage, or when the receiver rapidly changes position.
