Accreditation Council Appoints Global Medical Affairs Expert Dr. Robin Winter-Sperry to Board of Governors

NEW YORK, March 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Robin Winter-Sperry, who oversees global medical affairs for Sanofi Genzyme, has been named vice president of the board of governors of the Accreditation Council for Medical Affairs.

Dr. Winter-Sperry will serve as an ambassador to the medical affairs community, government, media and other constituencies, advocating for the Accreditation Council and its mission to establish, certify, and maintain the competencies of qualified medical and scientific professionals working in biopharmaceutical medical affairs.

In her more than three decades as a senior biopharma executive, Dr. Winter-Sperry has created and managed medical affairs and medical science liaison teams for Sanofi Genzyme, Novartis, Sandoz and Schering Plough.

"Dr. Winter-Sperry's experience directing global medical affairs across multiple therapeutic areas is invaluable to the Accreditation Council as we continue to expand the only consistent, credible and verifiable educational programs for medical affairs professionals," the Council's chair, Dr. William Soliman, said.

In accepting the new position, Dr. Winter-Sperry remarked that she believes "the Accreditation Council will play a critical role in creating a stronger educational foundation for the industry's medical affairs professionals."

Nearly 4,000 medical affairs specialists have enrolled in the Accreditation Council's Board Certified Medical Affairs Specialist Program, or BCMAS, since it was launched in the United States just over two years ago. Earlier this month, the Accreditation Council launched the first independently-administered program to train and credential medical affairs professionals in Brazil to better understand key principles in such areas as regulatory affairs, drug development, marketing, compliance and clinical trial design.

Prior to her current position as the head of global field-based medical excellence & insights for Sanofi Genzyme, Dr. Winter-Sperry led Sanofi Genzyme's global medical affairs MS franchise strategy & tactics and was executive director of Sanofi-Synthelabo's Department of Medical Therapeutic Liaisons.

Dr. Winter-Sperry also created Novartis's Department of Scientific Operations and served as its executive director, was executive director of medical affairs and product director - new product manager for Sandoz, and the head of dermatology professional services at Schering Plough.
