CORDOVA, Tenn., March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- ACH Food Companies, Inc. today announced it is voluntarily recalling certain production codes of French's®, Durkee® and Weber® branded Italian seasoning and spaghetti sauce mixes because an ingredient used in these products has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.  

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms) endocarditic and arthritis.

Products subject to this recall were sold to retailers and distributors nationwide in the United States and include:

These products are packaged in 4 inch by 6 inch foil paper laminate pouches. The date code can be found in the seam on the front right side of the pouch near the bottom.

These products were made using Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP), manufactured by Basic Food Flavors, Inc, Las Vegas, Nevada.  There have been no reports of illnesses associated with the identified products.  ACH Food Companies, Inc. is working closely with the Food and Drug Administration to conduct this voluntary recall.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers with questions about the recall should contact ACH Food Companies, Inc. at 1-800-328-6013 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.
