Ackerman Security Helps Raise $5M For Alex's Lemonade Stand
PHILADELPHIA, June 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ackerman Security co-sponsored the 10th annual fundraising event that netted nearly $5 million dollars for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for pediatric cancer research. The charity is named after Alexandra "Alex" Scott, a little girl and cancer patient who started her lemonade stands to raise money for cancer research. Alex passed away in 2004. Since its creation, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $120 million toward the goal of finding a pediatric cancer cure.
The CBS 3/CW Philly, 14-hour, live television event took place on June 9, 2016 and featured a variety of Television and radio personalities who donated their time and effort for the cause. In the ten years of the Telethon event, more than $17 million has been raised, but this year's total of $4,986,068 sets a new all-time record. Ackerman Security sponsored more than a full hour of the television event, and employees manned the phones with Philly celebrities such as the Phillie Phanatic, Dom Giordano, and the 76'ers Dance Team.
