Acquire Media Celebrates NewsEdge Milestone and Announces Appointment of Tom Claire as Executive Director of Enterprise Products
NewsEdge Anniversary and New Hire Point to Growth
ROSELAND, N.J., July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Acquire Media, a premier digital content provider serving the financial services and corporate communities, announced today that it is celebrating the 20th anniversary of NewsEdge, its flagship current-awareness business intelligence product serving thousands of businesses. The company also announced the hiring of Tom Claire as Executive Director of Enterprise Products. Mr. Claire was formerly with Infogroup and Dow Jones' research and business intelligence unit Factiva.
Acquire Media's NewsEdge products provide access to more that 8,000 trusted information sources from wire services, newspapers, business and trade publications, plus web sites, RSS feeds and blogs written by highly regarded experts and journalists. NewsEdge not only aggregates the news and information business professionals need, it provides tools to personalize and distribute news in ways most useful to readers while providing a critical competitive edge for all users in an enterprise.
Acquire Media CEO Lawrence Rafsky believes the 20th anniversary of NewsEdge is not only a milestone for the company, but also for business intelligence professionals everywhere. "In the early days of the Web, no other service was able to harness a wide variety of news and business information sources in such an intelligent and insightful way."
Pointing to the founding of NewsEdge, Rafsky goes on to note that the merger of Desktop Data and Individual, Inc. was a true driver in creating a more efficient business intelligence approach for business. "The marriage of Desktop Data and Individual, which resulted in NewsEdge, catapulted business intelligence from the old way of doing things – where the norm was for each business to dedicate large staffs and larger storerooms to the acquisition and organization of hundreds of magazines and paid subscriptions – to a system that pushed the news business professionals required right to in-boxes or online to their own portals."
Acquire Media purchased NewsEdge in 2007 and subsequently re-engineered the product to provide more functionality and ease on-site integration. The result further streamlined the product's ability to deliver not only news, but true business intelligence. "Our foundation here at Acquire Media has remained consistent with NewsEdge's vision: we understand the value of premium news and online news sources and will continue supporting the business needs of top professionals for decades to come," added Rafsky.
Marking the anniversary isn't the only news. Acquire Media has also hired longtime news information executive Tom Claire. An industry veteran, Claire has held senior positions at Infogroup and Dow Jones including Global Director of Enterprise Strategy at knowledge management and competitive intelligence provider Factiva. Claire joined Acquire Media in early June. Claire also held numerous other roles during his tenure at Factiva, including Manager of Customer Relations and Product Development leads. In his new role at Acquire Media, Claire will spearhead the development of more products and explore ways to make business intelligence even more usable.
"I'm excited to be with Acquire Media and look forward to helping bring new products and advanced features to our clients. Our goal is to put the right information and news in the hands of core users in each enterprise so they can be more efficient. We want to help them manage their businesses with a full comprehension of the market forces that affect their decision-making. No matter the channel or touch point, whether it's online, through a mobile device, or through a dedicated RSS feed or email newsletter, Acquire Media's NewsEdge products will continue to provide relevance, insight and understanding for these professionals."
