Acquisio Appoints Tracy Smith to CMO, Marc Poirier to Executive VP Business Development
Acquisio announces the appointment of Tracy Smith -- veteran of YPG, Deloitte Consulting, and IDEO Consulting, as CMO -- as well as the transition of Marc Poirier to Executive VP Business Development.
MONTREAL, March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Acquisio announced today the addition of Tracy Smith as their new Chief Marketing Officer. Co-Founder Marc Poirier will now fill the role of Executive Vice President, Business Development.
The position of CMO will encompass several existing teams within the Acquisio organization. Smith will ensure tighter integration between marketing and product development. "The online marketing industry is seeking tools that guide them in their daily activities and allow them to take immediate action," said Smith. "With Acquisio, marketers get the very best online marketing tools available, built by an outstanding team of people who know and understand the needs of the online marketing world. I'm incredibly excited to join Acquisio and help drive the development and release of products that are crucial to our customers' success."
Smith has had a successful career in marketing and is well-known in the tech world. As VP of Performance Marketing and Go-To-Market at Yellow Pages Group (YPG), he assembled a team that built Canada's leading SEM & SEO provider, launched Websites Solutions and introduced an online analytics platform. Tracy also played an important role in initiating YPG's investment in Acquisio and served on its board of directors in 2010-2011.
"Smith joins us at an exciting time for Acquisio, in which we have a great deal of forward momentum and excitement around the deployment of new functionality and usability functions. Tracy has the knowledge and experience to ensure that these developments are successfully introduced," said Martin Le Sauteur, President and CEO of Acquisio. "Tracy will also contribute to Acquisio's tradition of innovation by driving new products and rich features to market."
The industry's complexity and the need for marketers to access media and data from dozens of different providers across a number of different channels is the background to Poirier's move to Executive Vice President, Business Development. A 17 year veteran of the online marketing industry, Acquisio's co-founder is one of the leading voices of the performance marketing industry. While he will continue to be involved with the product and marketing teams, Poirier will now dedicate most of his time building relationships, and creating opportunities with strategic partners and clients in existing and new markets.
Poirier said, "This new role is extremely exciting, and it fits me like a glove. I was already spending more than half of my time in business development, but the role did not exist officially." Marc's transition from marketing created the opportunity to hire Tracy Smith. "Tracy is a great addition to Acquisio," Poirier went on to say. "Having worked with him on a few projects already, I am aware of the kind of impact he can have, and am excited to have him take the leadership of the marketing and product teams."
