Actiontec's ScreenBeam Is Named a 2013 Gold Edison Award Winner ScreenBeam Wireless Display Kit Wins at Chicago Ceremony; Prestigious Awards Celebrate 26 Years of Honoring Innovators and Innovation
SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Actiontec Electronics today announced that its ScreenBeam™ Wireless Display Kit has received Gold honors in the Edison Awards Media: Connectivity category. The gold award, the highest available, was bestowed to Actiontec at a special gala event held on April 25 at Navy Pier in Chicago.
Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements literally changed the world, garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents, and made him a household name around the world.
"Our judges recognized Actiontec as a true innovator out of the many products in its category," said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards.
The award-winning ScreenBeam lets consumers wirelessly share content from a compatible computer, smartphone, or tablet to a television or other display. Online movies, vacation photos, presentations, online videos and more come alive in brilliant HD on the largest display in the house. Friends and family can enjoy movies from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, and more on the HDTV, rather than huddling around a laptop or tablet.
The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards™ was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medical.
"We're honored that ScreenBeam was chosen for this prestigious award that recognizes innovative achievements. Our fellow Edison award winners represent some of the most exciting products and visionary companies that are changing business and society," said Dean Chang, CEO and President of Actiontec Electronics.
In addition to the Awards Gala, the annual Edison Awards program encompassed multiple events over a two-day period including an opening reception, "Meet the Innovators Forum" and the "Innovators' Showcase," which offered guests a hands-on experience with many of the winning products.
