HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., Jan. 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Adam & Eve and adameve.com, America's most trusted source for adult products, isn't afraid to ask the hard questions when it comes to all things sexual. This month, they're back with new results from their annual sex survey, where they asked over 1,000 adults about age restrictions and parental consent regarding abortion. And the responses may surprise you.
Regarding this controversial subject, 65% of the female respondents and 67% of the male respondents believe there should be age restrictions and parental consent for minors seeking abortion. Conversely, 35% of the female respondents and 33% of the male respondents do not believe age restrictions or parental consent should be required for a minor female seeking an abortion.
In addition, 67% of the respondents (71% of the females and 62% of the males polled) believe that their state should provide abortion assistance (funds, counseling, etc.) for those who need it.
"The rules regarding a female under the age of 18 receiving an abortion vary state to state," says Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist at Adam & Eve. "Some states do not require parental involvement, but many do. While the choice to end a pregnancy is a personal and difficult decision, the right to have this option is key for women's rights and reproductive safety."
"Adam & Eve's annual sex survey gauges the changing sexual attitudes and values of American adults," says Chad Davis, Director of Marketing for Adam & Eve.
The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
